... is surely ticking
The Spring Equinox was just 3 days ago and the season is already swinging into high gear. Sunshine is taunting me outside these windows and it's getting harder to stay inside on most days :)
I've definately been feeling the push and pull of work and pleasure.. So many projects are taking form, encompassing tangible, written, and still mental stages. And yet so many responsibilities continue to loom overhead.
I think I spent a half hour doing dishes after getting home from a 8 hr work day last night, only to then dirty up the entire kitchen making a quick dinner before heading over to hoop rehearsal. Seems like anything organized is in a state of chaos almost immediately afterward. I guess that's just something to accept when you're busy.
By the time Friday comes around each week, so little free time has been spent on projects that I find myself wanting to do a lock in just to get something crossed off the list... but then... there is LIFE out there taunting me again. My new rule is one event per weekend.
So, last weekend we went to Subliminal, where a few friends were tag teamin.

This was my first time to Double Door and I think most of the night I was preoccupied with how awesome a place it was. At some point in the night I went downstairs to the dnb room and there were these huge comfy chairs in front of the music and I just chilled listening to great tunes, sippin' on wine, and feeling like I was hanging out in my own house. Just a great relaxing feel to the night. There need to be more events like that!
The next morning Mister J and I were feeling pretty comfy so he made us some delicious homemade spicy udon soup with fried tofu which we ate in our jamijams and finished our
LA Ink marathon - GOOD Show!

The bulk of that next work week was a blur for both of us. It was non stop.
We celebrated St. Patricks Day a little bit backwards by supporting one of the new Mexican restaurants in our neighborhood that just so happened to have the most AMAZING tortilla soup.

Kinda looked like this one, only imagine it 10 times as tasty.
I've even put them in my phone contacts for any future cravings - thank goodness they do takeout.
And this past Saturday, we had a girls night over at the Congress for Benassi.

This was actually a blast. I liked the music from Second Sun a LOT more then Benny, danced a lot for sure, and laughed a lot. It was a truly entertaining night in all aspects, which was nice and much NEEDED. I kinda felt like we were in an episode of Jersey Shore tho. Haha. Really intersting people! And it was packed! I had no idea there was such a draw for techy trance in Chicago.
The fact that I had also been dancing all afternoon at a hoop jam beforehand had me sleeping in like a baby Sunday morning. The rest of the day I spent at the mall picking out our performance outfits with Mercedes. Let me tell you, I think I love Woodfield WAYYY too much. I love what we put together, but it was so tempting to get off course and shop for other spring items. I need some work blazers and dress pants but I'm forcing myself to wait until late April.
The waiting game. My mostest leastest favoritest game.
As for the push/pull of work and leisure this week, I think I have a good balance.
Tuesday and Thursday: Gym and class lecture as usual, but on Wednesday, Baxter from the Hoop Path (an awesome dancer from NC) is in town and is doing a few workshops at Visceral Dance Studio. Should be a nice way to release a little of the soreness from the usual Tuesday resistance workout.
Oooh yeah. And I have my 3rd big exam coming up in 2 weeks.
Two A's down, 10 to go?
Let's hope.

Oh I love LA Ink too... AND Tortilla soup... homemade by my grandma, as good as it gets :)
OMG You've had/have so much to do!
Hope you're at least enjoying all your projects.
Have a great day girl!
Ana
Mmmm you are too lucky! One of these days I'm going to have to look for a perfect recipe so I can make it at home. Can't afford takeout forever :)
Not so lucky, though, since I haven't seen my grandma since February 09' when I came to Portugal... Ugh.
Oh well, hopefully I'll be heading home this year.
I'll ask my grandma for the recipe and let you know anyway! Maybe you'll like it :)
