This weekend marked the beginning of a new obsession for me.
Betcha can't guess what it is.
It's fun, kinda messy, and rhymes with Moose.
And it is not Goose, or Zeus.

It is juice.
The past few weeks, I had been eying all sorts of juicers over the interwebs, and the day I found out about my Grandma's situation, I knew it was time to put plans into motion, so I made an order.
I bought one for her, and one for our house, and they arrived this weekend and I have been in juice heaven ever since.
We started out with a bit of this:

Which, is now completely gone.
Transformed if you will, into delicious liquid mixtures, and pulp for baking creations.
So far I've tried:
Strawberries
Blueberries
Green Pears
Limes
Mango
Carrot
Green and Red Pepper (surprisingly sweet!)
Unfortunately, this week is full of boring responsibilities and I will be spending most of it with my nose in muscle anatomy books, prepping for personal training exam #2.
So I won't be able to go crazy shopping until this weekend, although, I did manage to pick up my first pineapple!
I kind of like having a pineapple on the kitchen counter.
It's almost too pretty to cut up.
Yesterday Ken and I drove out to Rockford to bring my Grandma her new appliance, demonstrate use and cleaning, drop off some kefir drinks, Greek yogurt and other delicious things. It was a lovely afternoon and was so nice to be able to sit and chat about nutrition and ways to make it fun. She's doing great by the way. I know she and Gene are going to have a blast with it.
I also picked up a great book for them, which I absentmindedly left at home, and will have to mail out later today.

There is a great documentary that was based on the information in this book, which I would highly recommend, and can be streamed live instantly from a Netflix account, called, The Gerson Miracle.
The book is 10 times more mind blowing then the hour long film. I was able to just peek at the preface and introduction which convinced me to order a copy today for myself, and another extra copy in case someone close to me is ever in need. No bookstores in the Chicago area seem to be carrying it (coincidentally), but you can place an order, or purchase from Amazon.com, which I realized today is about half the price.
Hopefully they'll arrive by Friday, just after my exam and I can spend the whole weekend becoming nutritionally enlightened. I think this makes me probably the biggest nerd in the world. Who looks forward to reading all weekend??
Another book I can't wait to get my hands on:

My NPTI instructor is reading it for her masters program and whipped it out last week in class as we were all discussing personal diet preferences. She told me I could read it when she was finished. I hope I can actually find some downtime to get through some of these this Spring!
Not to mention making use of that pulp.
I attempted making some "Berry Surprise Muffins" with it.
The votes are in, and
I guess they need some work. Not so surprised!
But hey, I'm living and learning.
Cheers to Juice!
