Healing

Ever have a period of time that you wish you could just erase from existence?

Maybe it was just a day,
Maybe a week,
Or even a whole year?

This past week was mine.

It began a few days ago with finding out my grandma (on my late mothers side), is now battling cancer.

She is scheduled for surgery tomorrow with a specialist that she is very pleased with. My sister, Ken and I will be driving up to Madison the day after (which happens to be my Grandmas birthday) to visit her and flood her with gifts and love and positive energy. While I am extremely grateful that this looks to be a non serious cancer, it is going to be very hard for my family, especially my aunts and my grandpa Gene. I'm very nervous and am hoping everything, including a difficult recovery goes as flawless as possible. Please keep us in your thoughts this next week.

Update! : The results from my Grandmas surgery are in and tests came back negative! This is relieving news and I hope we can keep it away for good!

In addition to this stressful news, Ken and I said our farewells to two good friends of ours, David Cringer and his amazing girlfriend Emilee on Friday. There was a lovely group dinner at the new Small Bar on Fullerton, where we had delicious food and drinks
(including a beer boot!)

before heading over to a super sweet dub show at Cafe Lura afterward,
jammin' out to this guy.

We had such a fun time but it was bitter sweet. I'm so sad to have them
gone from Chicago, but we definately see bigger and better things in their future. Wish you guys the best of the best in your Cali adventure :) You will be missed.

The plan is to take a flight out to L.A. to visit them over Memorial Day weekend for the Lightening in a Bottle festival in SoCal. I'm already looking forward to this experience! It will be the perfect way to start out a summer of festivals.

Yesterday, we spent the day relaxing and laughing and sharing a nice dinner out to celebrate a new start, and to prepare mentally for the coming week, completely releasing ourselves from the stress of the past.

Today is Kens 30th birthday, and I am so lucky to have such a wonderful person by my side, to support me physically and emotionally, and be there for my family. He has done all this and more.

Tonight, I treat him to our favorite romantic fondu restaurant. MmmMmMmm doesn't even do it justice! I could fondu for dinner every day, seriously! Ooooh, and I can't wait.... for the mail to come ;)

Happy Birthday Baby!
May this year be your best.

Love you always.
