Happy New Year! Kinda??

Wow where to start?
I guess the beginning would be a proper place ;)

A few years ago I lost interest in blogging (having previously been a writer on Livejournal.com since my teen years). I think my busy college schedule was mostly to blame. This is my old url for interested parties.... www.livejournal.com/users/junglekity
Here's me back in my younger days. I can't believe how long I did the blonde thing. Way over that now!

Anyways, I recently felt the urge to start it up again. Only this time, I figured I'd do it right.

Where did I find this new exciting urge? Can't say exactly.
Maybe it's a desire to be able to document my newly reached mid-twenties
(hence the new years title)! I'm 24 now!

All my life, I've felt my "New Ye
ars" really happens on my birthday (Sept 15th to be exact). Birthdays bring about a feeling you only experience once a year obviously. You find out who your closest friends are, and the ones who have fallen into the cracks. You're forced to look at your life in a new way. Is this where I'm supposed to be at age X? Is this who I'm supposed to be? You evaluate your position, your feelings, and remember the year passed, and make rules and goals for the year to come. I'm sure I'm not the only one who goes through this thought process.

So I guess you could say that this web-log is one of my "new years'" resolutions. You're only the age you are but once. You only experience each new adventure, challenge, and joy, one time.
And what better way t
o re-live where you've been, who you've been, and where you've come from then to document the best of it.

My ambition is to keep things fun, and interesting.
To let people know the real me, see what I've seen, and share the experience.

So let's get to know a lil about me (here's a more recent pic, thanks to my phone cam).

Well, my boyfriend of almost 4 years, his name is Ken. My Sir Kenneth. He is my hero.

My 6 year old Keeshond, her name is Kacey!

Not too much of a coincidence there though. She goes after my first two initials, "K.C."
I used to like to go by "KC" way back in kindergarten, but it never stuck. My mom had always intended to have it as a potential nick name, so I passed it on to another part of my heart. My dear fluffy dog.

Ten weeks, 1 foot long, 9 inches tall...
(and below, all grown up).

More Kacey History:

When I was 17, my first and only dog of 11 years, a large (for their size) white Bichon Frise named Sasha, passed away. Ever since then, I felt like something huge was missing, and knew
after only a year that I couldn't go on without a dog with which to share my life.

At 18, my parents put my childhood house on the market, in the only town I'd ever known, good ol' Lake Bluff, IL, and started looking for houses in a town called Crystal Lake, which is about half way between the Lake Michigan shore (where Lake Bluff is), and Rockford, where bo
th my of grandparents live. I couldn't imagine them living in a place that didn't have a beach, but that's beside the point.

The best thing about Crystal Lake, in my opinion, was the pet shop off Main Street.
The February before my parents found a place, we were out in Crystal Lake house hunting and stopped for a break at that beloved Pet Land.
While there, I spotted literally THE cutest creme and silver colored, miniature husky looking, fluff ball, that I'd ever seen. None of my dozens of childhood stuffed animal puppies could even compare.

I spent over an hour holding her, the lady said she was a "Keeshond",
which was the first I'd ever heard of the breed. W
e sat in a little 3X3 foot cubicle with a door, and she gnawed on my shoes, my laces, and my keys. She snuggled, she climbed, she kissed..... and kissed and kissed. And then she barked. Of course, the cutest little bark I'd ever heard.

I looked at my mom seriously and whispered, "I have to have her." There was no walking away. She was my baby "Kachi" ( my favorite childhood dog stuffed animal), and somehow my mom understood.

At the time I was a poor pre-college student, and this was one pricey pup. My mom helped out, and for that I'll always be grateful. They held her for a week more, and on Valentines day, I got the puppy, and wanted to name her "Kissy" to celebrate the holiday. My mom and sisters thought that was a little too mushy... and we came up with something similar sounding. My initials. Lovely.

Her adolescent and young adult years were extremely difficult, seeing as though I moved about 6 times in those first 2 years of college. But I wont get into details now. Maybe some other time. Soon enough we found a solid place to call home. And that's where we are now, with Ken, in Des Plaines, IL.

For now, I think this will be the end of "introduction to me". To be continued!

Hi, I have enjoyed looking at your blog. I noticed your beautiful dog and wanted to let you know that we own a pet store not far from you called The Animal Store in Lincolnwood. I recently started a blog for the store — click here to check it out and let me know what you think. I hope you'll visit us in person or online at theanimalstore.com. I look forward to meeting you — just ask for Kenn.
